Hello - my name is Jeff Cane and I need your help, any help, to save a family's home of 21 years in Sylmar, California from foreclosure due to an unforeseen illness . Husband and wife who are closing in on senior citizenship and their 18 year old daughter who will be out of their home if we don’t pull this off. These 3 people are my dear, dear friends and have featured heavily in my life since I was privileged to meet them in 2006.
We need to raise $20k
I've been with them for their ups and downs and they mine for 13 years, including propping me up through an excruciating tragedy. As an ex pat Brit, they are my family over here. This is why I am writing this plea for financial help for them and in doing so, with your help, hope to save their home and release the pressure this has put on their marriage and above all - their sanity. THEY NOW HAVE ONLY WEEKS TO ACCOMPLISH THIS having exhausted all possible avenues!!
How we get to this point -
Mike, the husband, an accomplished musician, had a bad tussle with throat cancer in 2003. Radiologists at UCLA thankfully got the better of that and all was well for this very talented guitarist for several years. That is until a 2011 road trip with family to Arizona after an ill advised dental procedure in the previously radiated area of his jaw.
While in Arizona Mike suffered a massive neck infection and was rushed to the hospital. What followed was extremely invasive neck surgery and a 5 week induced coma. Mike was brought back from the brink of death on 3 occasions during surgery and the coma. When he was able to leave hospital, 6 months of hyperbaric oxygen treatment and 7 surgeries for his neck, throat and jaw ensued over the next 2 years!
There was no way for Mike to work and this ‘bolt of lightning` took him out of the LA music and studio scene for YEARS. Those years taken up/lost to rehabilitation, drugs (not recreational) and therapy.
To stay above water Mike cashed out his life savings and borrowed heavily from family members as medical bills had all but bankrupted him. A lengthy lawsuit ensued and rightfully so, Mike won. Not the amount needed for a long survival but enough to pay family back and start his crawl back to ‘normal’ life.
As a mother of a teenage daughter and all the commitment that needs, this was an 8.4 quake on the Richter scale of life for Deborah… A born fighter, she put on the ‘gloves’ and got in the ‘ring’. Without going into full detail, everything that could be sold was, including most of Mike’s beloved guitars and their house frontage set up like a permanent market. I emptied 3 large storage units onto it. Deborah and I brutally cut into that which I have accumulated for years, all going to her ‘survival sales’.
To this point it has been YEARS of struggle, this beautiful, caring, loving and giving family always hoping and praying that life would give them a break…
I have never written such a plea before, I hope I never have to again.
If through the kindness of your heart and the ‘Pay it forward’ factor you can find the love to give this family WHATEVER you can afford, everything and anything is a miracle of help.

Thank you so much
