The Victory Garden Initiative's Annual Milwaukee Blitz is back! Please help us provide garden beds for the people who need them the most!

The Blitz is a program during which we will build 500 garden beds throughout Milwaukee County from April 20th - May 4th, 2024. Since the inception of the Blitz in 2009, VGI has built over 7,000 garden beds for homes, schools, business, and churches. Each garden provides an abundance of fresh produce throughout the growing season and helps families to offset the rising cost of produce, while also creating lifelong healthy habits, and creating accessibility to healthy food options. We have a particular focus to build in areas that are food deserts. This year we have a goal to provide more garden beds for homes in the Harambee neighborhood, where VGI calls home.

Your donations will help to sponsor the full cost of a garden bed for a Harambee household. The garden beds that we build are 8x4 Ft. untreated pine, we fill them with a cubic yard of Blue Ribbon organic soil, provide seeds to get started, as well as education for new gardeners. The generous help of community members and volunteers makes the Blitz possible.

Every donation goes a long way and is a contribution towards creating food sovereignty in Milwaukee. Our mission is to create a more sustainable, equitable, nutritious food system.
