Hi everyone,

For those of you who aren’t aware, Spencer was in a car accident coming back from Columbia early Sunday morning. He was taken to CMC Main with broken bones in his neck, back, ribs, and nose. He was also diagnosed with a concussion and pneumonia. He has been progressing every day but remains in the trauma ICU until they feel comfortable moving him to a step-down room.

Since he has been in ICU they have removed his ventilator, he has been able to speak, and he has been up walking around the halls this morning. They have informed us that he won’t need spinal surgery and has no serious damage to his internal organs.

He has had numerous visitors the past few days and I’m sure it will continue as the week goes on. For those wondering, his snoring has become increasingly louder every day so soon he will be back to the same train horn sounding Spencer we all know and love.

When he is eventually released from the hospital, Spencer will be in a neck brace for a minimum of 6-8 weeks. Spencer works a manual labor job and we are unsure when he will be able to return to work. We are unsure whether he will be doing in-patient or out-patient rehab at this time.

To ease the financial burden to Spencer and his family we are raising money to assist with medical bills. I’m sure Spencer and his family will appreciate any assistance we can give him.

Spencer has a great support system behind him with his family, friends, and firefighting brotherhood checking in constantly.
