South Africa Trip 2025
Donation protected
Hello there, my name is Beatrice.
I am student at Capel Manor College London studying Animal Management. I am fundraising for help towards an educational trip to South Africa to the Kruger National Park where I will be working alongside other students from Capel Manor with wild animals in an onsite clinic for 2 weeks. Part of the tip involves helping to rehabilitate wild animals back into the wild. I have been given the opportunity to take part in this trip working on a reserve as well as working with the local community. The trip will take place in early July 2025.
The first time I truly encountered wildlife and being outdoors was when I was about 5 years old [younger, so I am told by my mum!] My mum brought me to her friend’s house for a visit, she had a huge back garden with lots of tall trees to climb and bushes to hide in. It was just me and the surrounding tall trees, where I use to pretend I was in the nature. Ever since, I have always had an obsession with nature, wildlife and animals.
When I was 12 years old, I discovered David Attenborough’s nature documentaries. Since then, my interest in animals and the natural world has never stopped growing. I have watched almost every documentary that he has made, and with each documentary, I have learned more and more about the natural world and its animals.
At college I study Exotic Animal Husbandry, Animal Biology and Animal Behaviour. I want to study Conservation and Zoology at University, as I believe that these subjects add considerable depth to my experience and educational pathway that I want to pursue in the future.
I am interested in this trip to learn more about wildlife and conservation in general as I have a passion for preserving endangered animal species. I have always had a love for, connection and appreciation for wildlife. I am empathetic because animals that have evolved over time in their natural environment and I am fascinated by the family groupings and how they survive in challenging and often unforgiving environments and circumstances.
My fundraising is going towards the cost of:
- A return trip to South Africa
- Accommodation
- Transport to getting about
I believe that this trip to South Africa, will help boost my chances in the Animal Care Industry because this is a field of work and sector I see myself in the future. Currently, I am looking at potential university courses that specialise in this area and by having this South Africa experience, will increase my confidence, learning and knowledge within higher education or other work opportunities.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
