Buongiorno Mondo!

Mi chiamo Giacomo, ho 47 anni, sono siciliano e vivo a Madrid da 15 anni.

Otto anni fa, ho subito un doppio trapianto: pancreas e rene.

Negli anni precedenti al trapianto, ho attraversato momenti di salute molto difficili; dopo il trapianto, con un'invalidità del 71%, mia moglie ed io abbiamo deciso di aprire una piccola falegnameria artigianale (https://www.instagram.com/carpinteriagiacomodantoni/). Io ho sempre amato dedicarmi alla costruzione e al restauro di mobili e così finalmente mi sono sentito realizzato.

L'anno scorso, dopo un infortunio all'alluce, causa di vari mesi di chiusura e di conseguenti problemi economici, stavo ricominciando a lavorare, e a riprendermi. Purtroppo, all’improvviso, una mattina di dicembre, non riuscivo più a vedere da un occhio.

Al Pronto Soccorso mi hanno detto che si trattava di un'emorragia interna dovuta al diabete (retinopatia diabetica), che sarebbe migliorata in un mese. Invece non vi è stato alcun progresso, la situazione è peggiorata, e l'oculista mi ha detto che bisognava operare d'urgenza. L'intervento è stato eseguito il 23 gennaio 2025.

La situazione in cui mi trovo oggi è questa: non posso lavorare fino a quando l'occhio destro non si sarà ripreso; i medici hanno detto che ci vorranno molti mesi per il recupero (almeno fino a maggio). Ho dovuto lasciare a metà i miei lavori. L’unico reddito che ricevo è una piccola nomina dalla mutua, grazie alla quale riesco appena a pagare l’affitto del locale.

Con la mia invalidità non ho alcun sostegno statale. Per ottenere una pensione di invalidità permanente dovrei chiudere la mia attività e lavorare in un altro settore. Ma io voglio continuare a fare il mio lavoro perché lo faccio bene e con molta passione.

Le spese hanno prosciugato il nostro conto e non sappiamo come uscire da questa situazione. Per questo abbiamo pensato di chiedere il vostro sostegno, e così provare a far sopravvivere la falegnameria oltre la forzata chiusura.

Me llamo Giacomo, soy de Sicilia, tengo 47 años y vivo en Madrid desde hace 15 años.

He sido diabético desde mi juventud, y desde el año 2015 me tenía que someter a diálisis 3 días a la semana porque mis riñones iban dejando de funcionar por culpa de la diabetes. Por suerte, hace 8 años apareció un donante compatible y fui sometido a una doble operación de trasplante de páncreas y riñón en el Hospital 12 de Octubre de Madrid. Pese a que la operación se pudo calificar como un éxito, casi un milagro, tras el trasplante fui revisado por un tribunal médico quien me asignó una discapacidad del 71%.

Por suerte, mi salud mejoró tras la operación dado que había pasado por momentos de salud francamente difíciles en los años anteriores al trasplante, y debido a esta mejoría decidí con el apoyo y ayuda de mi mujer abrir un pequeño taller de carpintería artesanal donde me dedico a la fabricación de muebles (https://www.instagram.com/carpinteriagiacomodantoni/).

Como se sabe, en cualquier negocio los comienzos son difíciles. Pese a ello, con mucho trabajo e ilusión fuimos comprando poco a poco diferente maquinaria para el taller de carpintería. Pero llegó el COVID primero y a principios del año pasado, cuando volvíamos a reflotar el negocio, sufrí un accidente laboral en el pie, que me hizo estar varios meses parado. De nuevo, con tesón volvimos a recuperar económicamente el negocio con muchísimo esfuerzo, pero una mañana del pasado mes de diciembre de repente me desperté sin poder ver por mi ojo derecho.

En urgencias me dijeron que era una hemorragia interna motivada por la diabetes (el término médico que me diagnosticaron se llama retinopatía diabética) y me dijeron que posiblemente mejorase en un mes. En lugar de mejorar, he empeorado drásticamente y, a finales de año, el oftalmólogo me dijo que la hemorragia vítrea requería de una intervención quirúrgica urgente, operación que se ha realizado el jueves 23 de enero.

Y esta es la situación en la que me encuentro hoy: Obviamente no puedo trabajar hasta que mi ojo derecho se haya recuperado. Los médicos me han indicado que tardaría meses en recuperarme (hasta por lo menos mayo). Por este motivo, tuve que dejar mi trabajo a medias, quedando numerosos proyectos de carpintería de diversos clientes parados. En la actualidad el único ingreso que recibo es una pequeña nomina por parte de la mutua de unos 660 euros al mes, dinero con el que apenas puedo pagar el alquiler del local, teniendo que gastar nuestros últimos ahorros para poder costear las facturas, que pese a estar cerrados por enfermedad, nos siguen llegando puntualmente a principios de cada mes.

Es triste, pero pese a mi discapacidad no tengo ninguna ayuda estatal. Para conseguir una pensión de invalidez permanente nos han informado que tendría que cerrar mi negocio y trabajar en otro sector. Pero mi trabajo es mi pasión, ser carpintero es lo que siempre ha deseado ser, y encima es un trabajo que con mucho esfuerzo y pasión lo hago bien.

Los gastos han vaciado nuestra cuenta y no vemos cómo salir de esta situación, así que hemos pensado en pediros un poco de vuestro apoyo para intentar que la carpintería sobreviva durante mi cierre obligatorio. Cualquier ayuda que recibamos será un balón de oxígeno para nuestra dañada economía.

My name is Giacomo, I'm from Sicily. I'm 47 years old and I've been living in Madrid for 15 years.

I have been diabetic since my youth, and since 2015 I’ve had to undergo dialysis 3 days a week because my kidneys stopped working due to diabetes. Luckily, 8 years ago a compatible donor appeared and I underwent a double pancreas and kidney transplant operation at the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid. As you know, in any business the beginnings are difficult. In spite of this, with a lot of hard work and enthusiasm we gradually bought different tools for the carpentry workshop. But COVID came in 2020 when we starting up the business again and I injured my foot last year, which meant I couldn't work for several months. Once again, with a lot of effort and determination, we managed to get the business back on its feet, but one morning last December, I suddenly woke up unable to see out of my right eye.

In the Emergency Department I was told that it was an internal hemorrhage caused by diabetes (the medical term I was diagnosed with is called diabetic retinopathy) and I was told that it would probably get better in a month. Instead of getting better, I got drastically worse and, at the end of the year, the ophthalmologist told me that the vitreous hemorrhage required urgent surgery, which was carried out Thursday, January 23.

And this is the situation I find myself in today: Obviously I cannot work until my right eye has recovered. The doctors told me that it would take months to recover (until at least may). For this reason, I have had to give up my work half way through, with numerous carpentry projects for various clients coming to a standstill. At present, the only income I receive is a small salary of 660 euros per month from the Mutual Insurance Company, money with which I can barely pay my rent, having to spend our last savings to be able to pay the bills, which despite being closed due to illness, continue to arrive punctually at the beginning of each month.

It is sad, but despite my disability I have no state support. To get a permanent disability pension we have been told that I would have to close my business and work in another sector.

But my job is my passion, being a carpenter is what I have always wanted to be, and on top of that it is a job that with a lot of effort and passion I do well.

Expenses have drained our account and we don't see how we can get out of this situation, so we thought we would ask for some of your support to try to make the carpentry shop survive during my compulsory closure. Any help we receive will be a lifeline to our damaged economy.

Guten Tag, ihr Lieben!

Mein Name ist Giacomo, ich komme aus Sizilien, bin 47 Jahre alt und lebe seit 15 Jahren in Madrid.

Seit meiner Jugend bin ich Diabetiker, und seit 2015 musste ich 3 Tage pro Woche zur Dialyse, weil meine Nieren aufgrund meines Diabetes nicht mehr funktionierten.

Glücklicherweise fand sich vor 8 Jahren ein passender Organspender, und ich unterzog mich einer doppelten Pankreas- und Nierentransplantation im Krankenhaus "12 de Octubre“ in Madrid.

Obwohl die Operation als Erfolg, ja fast als Wunder bezeichnet werden kann, wurde ich nach der Transplantation von einem medizinischen Gutachter untersucht, der mir einen Grad der Behinderung von 71 % zuwies.

Glücklicherweise verbesserte sich mein Gesundheitszustand nach der Operation, denn die Jahre vor der Transplantation waren für mich sehr schwierig gewesen.

Aufgrund dieser positiven Entwicklung, beschloss ich mit der Unterstützung und Hilfe meiner Frau, eine kleine Schreinerei zu eröffnen, in der ich Möbel anfertige (https://www.instagram.com/carpinteriagiacomodantoni/).

Bekanntlich sind die Anfänge in jedem Unternehmen schwierig. Trotzdem haben wir mit viel Fleiß und Enthusiasmus unsere Schreinerei auf ein gutes Fundament gebracht und konnten nach und nach erforderliche Maschinen kaufen.

Doch dann kam COVID und Anfang 2024 nachdem unser Geschäft wieder Fahrt aufgenommen hatte, erlitt ich einen Unfall am Fuß und war aus dem Nichts für mehrere Monate arbeitsunfähig.

Gerade, als wir mit viel harter Arbeit unser kleines Unternehmen nach dem Unfall finanziell wieder auf die Beine gebracht hatten, wachte ich eines Morgens im Dezember 2024 auf und konnte auf dem rechten Auge nichts mehr sehen.

In der Notaufnahme wurde mir gesagt, dass es sich um eine innere Blutung handelte, die durch Diabetes verursacht wurde (der medizinische Begriff ist Diabetische Retinopathie), und es wurde mir gesagt, dass es wahrscheinlich in einem Monat besser werden würde. Doch anstatt einer Besserung ging es mir drastisch schlechter, und am Ende des Jahres teilte mir der Augenarzt mit, dass die Glaskörperblutung dringend operiert werden müsse, was am Donnerstag, dem 23. Januar, auch geschah.

Die aktuelle Situation, in der ich mich heute befinde:

Ich kann nicht arbeiten, solange sich mein rechtes Auge nicht erholt hat. Die Ärzte sagten mir, dass die Genesung noch mehrere Monate dauern würde (mindestens bis Mai).

Aus diesem Grund musste ich meine Arbeit mittendrin einstellen, und zahlreiche Aufträge für verschiedene Kunden kamen zum Stillstand.

Gegenwärtig ist mein einziges Einkommen ein geringes Gehalt von 660 Euro pro Monat von der Berufsgenossenschaft, womit ich kaum die Miete für die Werkstatt bezahlen kann. Unsere letzten Ersparnisse müssen wir für die laufende Rechnungen aufbrauchen, die trotz der krankheitsbedingten Schließung weiterhin pünktlich am Monatsanfang eingehen.

Es ist traurig, aber trotz meines Grads der Behinderung bekomme ich keine staatliche Unterstützung. Um eine dauerhafte Invaliditätsrente zu erhalten, wurde mir gesagt, müsste ich mein Geschäft schließen und in einem anderen Sektor arbeiten.

Mein Beruf ist meine Leidenschaft, da ich schon immer Schreiner werden wollte. Obwohl die Arbeit mir viel Mühe abverlangt, ist das Ergebnis immer einzigartig und von außergewöhnlich schöner Qualität.

Die finanziellen Ausgaben für laufende Kosten haben mittlerweile unser Konto erschöpft, und wir stehen ratlos vor diesem aufgebürdeten Schicksal.

Damit die Schreinerei während meiner Zwangsschließung überleben kann, wollen wir die Möglichkeit über Gofundme nutzen und um Unterstützung bitten.

Jede Hilfe, die wir erhalten, wird ein Rettungsanker für unsere angeschlagene finanzielle Situation sein und ein kleines handwerkliches Unternehmen vor dem Untergang bewahren.
