Hello dear Family and Friends,

Yesterday our dear daughter Sophia was visiting with us (Mike and Jacqueline) and while talking to us, she collapsed suddenly. (She was not vaccinated) A blood clot behind her left knee broke free and went to her lungs and put her into cardiac arrest. Mike and I immediately realized the critical nature and quickly responded. The following is an account written by my niece Caroline to clarify the story and timeline. Please be in prayer for her. We expect a move of God like no other as only our God can do!

Updates about Sophia 10/30 @ 1545:

Sophia was found to have a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) also known as a blot blood today via ultrasound. They found it in her left popliteal (behind the left knee). The clot broke off yesterday in the comfort of her parents home around 1430. The clot traveled through her heart to her lungs and she immediately couldn’t breath and became cyanotic (the color blue). This is also known as a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot to the lungs). The paramedics arrived on the scene within about 3-5minutes and immediately started CPR. Sophia was in and out of CPR for about an hour to an hour and a half. She arrived at the emergency department via ambulance with her parents and was given all the life saving drugs to make her heart pump again, was intubated (they put a breathing tube in) and put on a ventilator. They also gave her a fibrinolytic (clot buster) immediately to dissolve the clot. She was not coming back after about an hour but with much prayer and an amazing cardiologist she got exactly what she needed to regain a pulse and a blood pressure. She coded (went into cardiac arrest) a total of 6 times including while being scanned in the scanner so our current prayer is that her brain did not go without perfusion (oxygen and blood flow) for too long and she will be COMPLETELY neurological intact in Jesus’ name. Currently she is in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) stable, she’s on heparin (to thin her blood), vasopressors (to maintain her blood pressure), fluids, potassium and phosphorus (due to extremely low levels). We are unsure of the heart or brain damage at this point (this is where we need a miracle!!) She has great urine output right now but will continue to monitor as kidney damage is a potential as well as liver damage (however less concerning due to its regenerative nature). Right now she is being cooled for 48 hours. Her body temperature is as 96 degrees to help the brain get optimal flow, keep inflammation down, and prevent additional damage from occurring. She will be rewarmed tonight 10/30 @ 2100 and this will take 6-8 hours. She will slowly be weaned off of her sedation after and we will hopefully get a neuro response within the next day or two.

This is where we are currently so please relay information as Aunt Jacqueline and Uncle Mike are unable to respond to all texts/calls. [end]
