Sonia’s Liver Cirrhosis Medical Fund

Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Laura and I’m fundraising for my mother Sonia Martinez. My mother was recently diagnosed with cirrhosis (NOT related to alcohol) and it has been a whirlwind. We have a long road ahead. My mother is the type of person to never ask for help, nor am I, but with all of the sudden expenses quickly adding up, money should not be something for her to stress about. My mom has been a Custodian for Mansfield Independent School District for over 20 years. She lives pay check to pay check to pay her bills. If you know my mother she is the sweetest person. As you may know doctor visits, ultrasounds, ct scans, blood work etc can get really expensive. I’m pleading for help as I’m a single mother of 2 and I’m doing the best I can to help her as well. Even if you’re unable to help with donations, prayers are much needed and appreciated during this whole process. ❤️

Update 10/06/2021

Mom was seen by the liver specialist today they ordered more labs and we are scheduling an EGD (endoscopic procedure that allows the doctor to examine the esophagus, stomach and duodenum (part of your small intestine). and colonoscopy. Keep you posted as we more know info! Thank you all for the continued prayers. ❤️

Update 11/2/2021

Mom was having bowel movements with blood they did a STAT on her EGD and colonoscopy @ methodist Dallas medical center.
She’s in recovery. In her colonoscopy they found a 6 mm, non-bleeding polyp in the transverse colon, the polyp was sessile. The polyp was removed with a cold snare. Resected and retrieved. Await pathology results. Medium sized, non bleeding rectal varices were found. Internal hemorrhoids. The hemorrhoids were grade II (internal Hemorrhoids that prolapse but reduce spontaneously).

In her EDG procedure the findings as follow Esophagogastric landmarks were identified: the z- line was found at 36 cm and the gastroesophageal junction was found at 35 cm from the incisors. 3 columns of grade III varices with 1 column with high risk stigmata (erythema/red wale sign) were found in the distal esophagus. Five bands were successfully placed with complete eradication, resulting in deflation of varices proximally. There was no bleeding during or after the maneuver. Mild portal hypertensive gastropathy was found in the gastric body. No obvious gastric varices. No GAVE.  Patchy mild inflammation characterized by erythema and friability was found in the stomach. Multiple (4-5) 8 to 12 cm pedunculated and sessile polyps with no bleeding were found in the gastric fundus and antrum. Polyps appeared hyperplastic in nature. Biopsy/ polypectomy not attempted due to thrombocytopenia. Will repeat upper endoscopy for Variceal surveillance +/- banding plus gastric polyp removal in 6 weeks.
