Hola, mi nombre es Franklin. Hace algunos años, sobreviví a un acto de violencia que cambió mi vida: me abrieron ambos brazos, dejándome heridas que aún hoy no han sanado del todo. A pesar de recibir tratamiento médico, mis heridas se abren constantemente, sangran y deben ser atendidas con curaciones continuas. Vivo con dolor, incomodidad y mucha incertidumbre.

Los médicos me han dicho que solo una cirugía reconstructiva puede cerrar estas heridas de manera definitiva. Esta intervención no solo aliviaría el dolor físico, también me daría la posibilidad de recuperar mi movilidad y empezar de nuevo.

Pero el camino no ha sido fácil. Por la condición de mis brazos, he sido rechazado de varios trabajos. Eso me ha dejado sin ingresos, sin estabilidad y sin posibilidades de costear la cirugía. Actualmente vivo en un albergue de migrantes donde afortunadamente tengo techo y comida, pero me gustaría poder independizarme y valerme por mí mismo.

Hi, my name is Franklin. A few years ago, I survived a violent attack that changed my life: both of my arms were cut open, leaving wounds that still haven’t fully healed. Despite ongoing medical treatment, the injuries reopen constantly, causing bleeding and requiring frequent care. I live with pain, discomfort, and a great deal of uncertainty.

Doctors have told me that only reconstructive surgery can close these wounds for good. This procedure wouldn’t just ease the physical pain — it would give me the chance to regain mobility and rebuild my life.

But the road hasn’t been easy. Because of the condition of my arms, I’ve been turned away from several jobs. This has left me without income, without stability, and without any way to afford the surgery.

I’m currently staying at a migrant shelter, where I’m fortunate to have food and a roof over my head. But I dream of becoming independent and being able to support myself.
