Fundraiser for burial expense of KAYO's mom

a tribute & benefit for Keith Overton.  Everyone has a Kayo story that is a testimonial of his decades-long love and service to and for the music and the people of the underground dance music community.  As demonstrated by his interning at King Street in the ’90s when I first met him, to his impeccable service rendered as a sales associate at Satellite Records where he was like a beacon of sunlight that made you want to buy whatever record he put in your hands.  Kayo has supported countless DJ’s in the scene first as a promoter hosting a myriad of unheralded DJs at events for over 15 years (DEEP SEE, BKNY, SOLE THERAPY,)  then as a venue operator at 667 nurturing the careers of several DJ’s in the scene.  Did I also mention he is an award-winning film editor as well?  I speak from personal experience that if there was a friend that would come to my aid without requiring an explanation his name is KAYO.

On a more somber note, the motivation for putting this event together is to serve as a fundraiser for Kayo, whose mother Pat Overton passed away on Monday, June 14, 2020, after a protracted battle spanning the last 4 years.  Unfortunately, she had no burial insurance and in these challenging times of Covid-19 and raging unemployment we are reaching out for donations via this gofundme. 

We will celebrate her ascension rather than mourn her loss.   We will be executing a virtual twitch-a-thon as a repast to console, support, and celebrate our brother.  With the shortlist of DJs selected to participate under the advice and consent of DJ Spinna and Kayo, we will have a powerful homegoing celebration for Kayo’s mother and an homage to acknowledge a lifetime of service for Kayo:   DJ Spinna, Tyrone Francis, Kim LIghtfoot, Donna Edwards,  Carlos Sanchez, Sam Hyde, MuscleCars, Shawn Dub.
