In loving memory of Mike Wolfson, who passed away suddenly on July 22, 2020.
Mike Wolfson was an incredibly loving father to Ozma and Elvi and devoted husband to Tammar. You have doubtless seen him on the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh grounds after school, tirelessly playing with his daughters and tending to them, or spotted him helping out with facilities projects around the campus. If you knew Mike, you'll be picturing his quick smile, that mischievous twinkle in his bright blue eyes, and anticipating the next outrageous story he's about to tell you.
Mike was a gregarious figure who befriended everyone. He had a smile and a laugh for everyone he met, and was an interested, caring, and involved friend to so many of us. He was a thinker and a dreamer. A conversation with Mike always left people thoughtful and smiling. Constantly curious about the world around him, Mike seemed to have an ineffable spirit. We are shocked and saddened to know that he has left us far too soon.
Mike's love for his daughters was equalled only by his love for his wife Tammar. Mike was incredibly proud of Tammar and often talked about how hard she worked, sometimes neglecting to consider how hard he was also working for the family. The Wolfsons came to Pittsburgh four years ago so that Tammar could return to school to complete her undergraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University, while Mike chose to largely stay at home and take care of their girls.
After Tammar's hard-earned graduation this spring, the Wolfsons were ready to begin a new life with Tammar set to start a career in Design. Due to the pandemic, Tammar's job search, like many, had been delayed. In the spring, the Wolfsons moved back to Oregon to be closer to family.
Hopeful for the future, Tammar and Mike had been planning the next steps of their lives when Mike suddenly and unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack on July 22nd. Mike was a constant mooring for his family; they are lost without him. As friends who have watched this beautiful family grow up over the last four years, we want to offer support to Tammar, Ozma, and Elvi during this catastrophic time in their lives.
If you feel called, please consider making a donation to help Tammar and her daughters. Donations to this GoFundMe account will go directly to Tammar, and we hope will help ease some of the unanticipated expenses they are facing.
Please share widely and freely with friends and family of the Wolfsons.
