Hi we are Angus Cat Rescue we are a team of fosterers and fundraisers around the Dundee and Angus area, helping cats and kittens from various situations, we have all veterinary treatments carried out before we rehome. And offer full rescue back up for all.
We are really needing some help with Simba, who was abandoned by his owners in the Dundee area. He was having issues with his breathing and his chest area was extremely large. He was taken to our vets and xrays etc were taken and the diagnosis was a Diaphragmatic Hernia, which has been caused by a trauma, we are obviously unsure of when this happened, but Simba could not be left as he was so he was operated on, a very long and delicate op with no definite outcome as the damage was not known entirely until till they opened him up. Thankfully he came through the surgery but was a worry as took a bit longer to waken from the anaesthetic, he stayed stable for a good few hours then sadly his lungs required draining which was taken care of and he has remained stable since. One of his lungs is very damaged so he does have restrictions due to this, and will for the future.
Latest update this morning is that he continues to be stable and bright, hasn't eaten yet but hopefully he will soon, and he is heading back to his fosterer later today as long as he continues as he is.
He will require ongoing check ups at the vets for the time being and of course lots of tlc.
This is just 1 of quite a few more expensive cases we have been dealing with which includes a number of cats and kittens undergoing FIP treatment, also a poor lad who had a blockage in his bladder caused by hundreds of stones, we did have him operated on but sadly and despite everything that was done by our vets we lost him.
Life being involved in rescue never stops and we do everything that we can for all that come into our care - all 100% of donations received are used for the cats and kittens as we are all volunteers there are no salaries to be paid out.
You can check us out via our website www.anguscatrescue.co.uk or through our Facebook page, every penny is very much appreciated to help us to continue to do what we do.
