Shurugwi Community Methodist Church
Donation protected
Laiza Simbo was an active member and preacher at the Methodist church in Shurugwi (Zimbabwe). Before her death in 2013 she had a dream to a build a church in her rural village of Chitareni of Shurugwi district (Zimbabwe) where the local congregation could meet and worship. As you can see from the photos, Laiza passed away before she could achieve this ambition.
My name is Amos Simbo, one of her grand children, born in ZImbabwe and currently based in the UK. I decided to raise funds in order to help finish building the church.
Despite being unfinished, the villagers still use the incomplete building as a place to conduct their church services in the absence of any other facilities.
We hope to raise £5000 to help finish off building the church. In its current shape it is just a shell and still requires a roof, flooring, windows, doors and furniture. Works will be coordinated in Zimbabwe by the local Pastor and church colleagues in order to get the building works ongoing. The work itself would be commissioned to local builders, providing further sustainability to the local economy. Building material donations are also welcome as part of the contributions.
Funds will be withdrawn from gofundme and sent to the church team via bank transfers and if not possible via moneygram.
Once built and furnished, this space wouldn’t just be a church, it would serve the whole community as a place to gather. Any donors who are able and willing would be more than welcome to come and help the build ers on site and see how it will change the lives of all those in the local Chitareni village of Shurugwi village.
