Shoot For The Stars Scholarship

Friends, family, and supporters what we’re creating is alchemy which is the process of turning lead into gold, lead being the idea and gold creating a much-needed platform called Unplug A Salute Life experience, In honor of Jamel Houseworth. Salute Life will host their very first annual art + lifestyle event called "UNPLUG" during Art Basel Miami December 8-9, 2017 in Miami Beach. The purpose is to allow guests to “UNPLUG” from the woes of society such as inequality, hate, racism, homophobia, misogyny, and negativity to name a few.  Jamel's compassion for people is what inspired us to create this event. UNPLUG will be true freedom where guests interact with one another, build relationships and leave Art Basel 2017 feeling inspired and refreshed. Included will be an art gallery exhibits, fashion show, influencer panel, music, food, giveaways, and a plethora of other interactive activities.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the "Shoot For The Stars" scholarship fund made available for high school Juniors and Seniors. We will dedicate this scholarship in Jamel’s name, and the first recipient will be his daughter Braxton Houseworth. The scholarship name was inspired by the Les Brown quote “Shoot for the moon because even if you miss, you'll land in the stars.”

With your help, we will reach our goal to raise $3,000 to provide a college scholarship for Braxton. We invite and encourage you to attend as well since this will be an event you won’t want to miss.
