On May 9th, 2025, our dear friend and fellow dog groomer, Shelby, experienced the heartbreaking loss of her beloved rescue dog, Lilah, under devastating and suspicious circumstances in Narre Warren.

While out on a walk doing some sniff training—something Lilah loved—she suddenly became ill. She began vomiting foam, became unsteady on her feet, and her eyes started to roll. Shelby rushed her to the vet, where she was treated with charcoal in hopes of clearing any toxins. She was sent home with instructions to monitor her closely—but tragically, Lilah passed away in her sleep that night.

Shelby is a kind, gentle soul and a devoted animal lover. Even in her grief, her first thought was to warn others in the community about the potential danger. She is now pursuing a necropsy to better understand what happened to Lilah and to help protect other pets in the area.

What many may not know is that Shelby also lives with a terminal illness, making this loss even more devastating both emotionally and physically. The unexpected costs of the necropsy, cremation, and time away from work are adding to an already overwhelming time.
