Hello, My Name is Janani Natarajan, and I’m raising this fund for my dear friend, Gayathri.

Many of you have already supported her ( https://gofund.me/59aa6d1b ) through the most difficult time in her life, and we’re so deeply grateful. Today, Gayathri still needs your help. She’s facing new medical and personal challenges and urgently requires reconstructive surgery that could finally help her walk again—and ultimately give her the chance to reunite with her children.I’ve watched her go through unimaginable pain and loss, and yet, she still wakes up each day with the strength to try again. She’s a mother, a fighter, and a woman who never gave up on life even when life gave up on her.

Her journey has been long and incredibly painful. Please take a moment to read Gayathri’s message below in her own words:

“I’m Gayathri, 34 years old.

On February 8, 2023, a terrible accident changed my life. I had multiple fractures in my right leg and went through five major surgeries. Rods were inserted in my tibia and fibula. But one of the surgeries failed, and now my leg is not aligned properly. I can’t walk, stretch, or even sit for more than a few hours. The pain is constant. The rods are still inside. The swelling never stops.

I’m mostly confined to my bed, lying down with my leg elevated, waiting for the next small relief.

What’s harder than the pain is not being able to care for my own children. Because of my disability and financial situation, the court gave custody to my ex-husband—a man who left me at my lowest. It’s been a year since I last held my children. I haven’t seen my kids for almost a year . Not sure if he treats my kids well. Heard my kids aren’t going to school through few sources.

I’ve been abandoned by those who were supposed to protect me. My own Parents. My partner. They all walked away . And yet, I am still here—because of the kindness of friends and strangers who believed in me when I couldn’t even move.

Every day I wake up with one hope: that I will walk again. That I will work, stand tall, and go hold my kids. That this isn’t the end of my story.

With one more surgery, I believe healing is possible.
