She Gave Me Her Last Two Eggs… Let’s Give Johanna a Home

Juanita (Johanna) gave me the only food she had—two eggs—without hesitation.

She lives in a shack held together by plastic and rusted tin, yet her heart is pure kindness. Together, we can give her what she’s never had: a safe home, dignity, and a future.

Meet Johanna

Johanna is a 67-year-old grandmother living alone in El Salvador. Her “house” is collapsing—plastic walls, rotting wood, a roof that lifts off when storms come. When it rains, her floor floods.

And yet… when I told her I was hungry, she invited me in and cooked me the only food she had left. She even said if I didn’t have a place to sleep, I could take her bed while she slept on the floor.

That’s Johanna. Pure kindness. A true earth angel.

No one this selfless should live in squalor.

Our Goal

At first, we thought we’d build Jaunita (Johanna) a very basic home. But because so many people want to help, we’re doing this right—so she never has to worry again.

Here’s the plan:

A solid brick home (storm-resistant and long-lasting)

Furniture for comfort and dignity

A bathroom with proper plumbing and permits (her first ever)

Protective fence and retaining wall for safety and stability

A micro-business shop built into her home so she can sell rice, beans, and local goods to her neighbors

Fair labor — supporting local workers who help build these homes

Cost Breakdown (Transparency)

Brick home + roof + retaining wall: $10,000

Bathroom + plumbing & permits: $2,000+

Furniture & essentials: $1,000

Small business shop: $5,000

Additional labor allocation: $3,000

Total Goal: $15,500

Anything raised after initial amount will go towards further improvements to Johanna’s home, micro-business and future projects like Johanna. 

We’ve already allocated a few thousand dollars from general donations, but we need your help to reach the full $15,000 goal to change Johanna’s life forever. ❤️
