<div>Johanna is a 67-year-old grandmother living alone in El Salvador. Her “house” is collapsing—plastic walls, rotting wood, a roof that lifts off when storms come. When it rains, her floor floods.

<div>And yet… when I told her I was hungry, she invited me in and cooked me the only food she had left. She even said if I didn’t have a place to sleep, I could take her bed while she slept on the floor.

<div>At first, we thought we’d build Jaunita (Johanna) a very basic home. But because so many people want to help, we’re doing this right—so she never has to worry again.
