Sharon was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of twenty-seven. After five brain surgeries throughout her life to relieve the pain, pressure, and side affects of the tumor, we thought it had quit growing. Many past MRI's have shown there was no growth so when this last one came back and showed that the tumor had grown significantly.
We were all shocked, to say the least!
The good news is that she has a wonderful team of doctors at UCLA that are working closely together to devise a plan that will help her quality of life.
The bad news is that this must take place at UCLA and with us being in Las Vegas it makes the cost of travel, lodging and food an almost insurmountable cost for them to bear.
Sharon by all accounts is a medical marvel. She just celebrated her 72nd birthday, has seen all three of her children get married, has twelve grandkids, and 1.5 great grandchildren. Her main concern is her husband of fifty-three years and being able to continue to do the work she loves.
Sharon would use these funds to pay for flights to and from UCLA and lodging while receiving treatment, as the radiation is an outpatient procedure. Also, meals and travel to and from the hospital and living related expenses as these will not be covered by any form of insurance.
Treatment is set to begin by the third week of September 2018. We want to thank all of you in advance who have requested us to set up this page to contribute to Sharon during this time of need.
