Our Baby Journey

Hello! My name is Shannon and my husband is Brandon, we met in 2005 and got married in 2008. We started trying to add to our family right away, tried on our own for two years then decided to ask my doctor for help. She diagnosed me with poly cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) but said we would still be able to conceive on our own. The next three years were really hard on us medically, I had three kidney stones, a kidney and bladder infection and a burst cysts on my ovaries which caused scar tissue to bind my fallopian tubes to my colon. I needed a laparoscopy and salpinjectomy in early 2013, they removed my left fallopian tube and as much scar tissue as possible. We were told my right tube may or may not heal and if not we would need in vitro fertilization (IVF) if we want to have our own children. It has been more than a year since my surgery and IVF is our last chance. We had a consultation with a specialist and I am a good candidate for IVF but I need another surgery to remove the remaining tube first. Medical costs for all of this have been extreme, nearly $25,000 with IVF being an additional $16,000. We cannot begin the process until we can pay in full, up front.
