Dear family, friends and acquaintances,
As many of you will have heard, my dear sister Shanna McEachern was taken to the Emergency room late on Monday, Feb. 18, when she suddenly collapsed from an excruitiating, unbearable pain in her abdomen. Shanna endured various testing over a 5 hour period, as the doctors and nurses struggled to reach a conclusive diagnosis. Finally, a CT scan was able to present the rare condition clearly, called "Cecal Volvulus". This condition is when the intestines twist, and knot, which cut off the circulation, causing the tissues to become necrotic.
Once diagnosed, a specialty doctor was called to come in to perform the LIFE SAVING surgery on Shanna. Thankfully, the doctor was able to come in within 20 minutes. Shanna ended up losing a 1/2 foot of her large intestine, however she is now feeling thankful to be alive, and is in good spirits as she tries to recover.
The reason that we are reaching out to you today is because Shanna has the very serious misfortune of being in a waiting period with her insurance company. Shanna was uninsured for a total of 3 weeks as she transferred insurances due to issues with the paperwork. Our family would be everlastingly thankful to anyone who is willing to donate towards Shanna's medical invoices, which are estimated to be between $75,000 to $100,000 (we will negotiate what we can).
