Hi, my name is Janice McLaughlin. I am raising funds to support my dear friend Suzy Venuta in her goal to speak at TEDxSurrey 2022. Suzy is a mental health educator, advocate, consultant, mentor, writer and inspirational speaker. As a person with lived experience, she understands all too well the stigma and misconceptions around mental illness. 

Last year Suzy was a finalist for TedxBearCreekPark, and this year she made it through to be one of twelve speakers, at this, the premier TEDx event in western Canada, TEDxSurrey. She will be sharing the importance of the "Legacy of connection "and how it can be life saving and life changing.  

Suzy lives on Vancouver Island, and the funds raised will help with costs of travel and accommodation to the lower mainland and Surrey for coaching sessions, rehearsal, dress rehearsals and the finale event. 

Supporting her will mean the world and give each of us a chance to connect with Suzy in a very tangible way. How exciting will it be to watch her on TEDx, to learn, to be inspired, and come away a better person. Let’s do what we can to make this possible and help her teach us how to make the world a better place. 

 Your support will help alleviate financial concerns and allow Suzy to focus fully on the hard work required running up to the event.

Suzy will also be writing blogs about the learning, process and experiences of all of this.
