For years, Doggy Rescue PV, our small, underfunded rescue in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico has been one of the few safe havens for dogs with nowhere else to go. We currently have 45 dogs in the outdoor area with an additional nine living in the home of Rosy Padilla, the director and owner.

These dogs were strays, roaming the streets, terrified and hungry. They were dumped and abandoned; several were rescued from unimaginable cruelty and neglect. One was tied to the back of a truck and dragged for a mile before the driver was stopped by an enraged crowd.

Now something incredible has happened. We have been given the opportunity to send 20 of our rescued dogs to a trusted Canadian rescue partner where they will have the chance to find permanent, loving homes.

For these dogs, this is the opportunity of a lifetime. But we cannot do it without help. Before these dogs can embark on their trip to Canada, each one must be fully vetted, inoculated and vaccinated, treated for any illnesses or parasites, and obtain health certificates for international travel.

As a small rescue operating with very limited funding, these expenses are overwhelming, but losing this opportunity would mean depriving these dogs of the future they deserve.

In Mexico, the reality for stray dogs is harsh. Resources are scarce and adoption opportunities are limited, but in Canada, these same dogs have families waiting to welcome them home. This is more than a flight: it is freedom from the streets. It's a second chance. Can you help?
