Sean Smith fundraiser Mary's orphanage Zimbabwe

Hi, I'm Sean and I am raising funds for Mary. I met Mary at an orphanage next to my school where I grew up in Masvingo. She has now started her own place in the rural area where she comes from.

I've started a new toilet facility for her orphanage nursery. There is lots more needed, such as a borehole and solar electricity. The aim is to make her self sufficient and improve life for everyone around her area.

Mary's Story below:

My name is Mary Fatima Makora. I'm from Marange village, Mutare in Manicaland Province. When I was growing up I had a passion to take care of orphans and old people in future. The people who've made my heart so touched to have a passion to take care of others were my parents, Peter Tofa Makora and Everjoy Shingirai Makora. We used to live with neglected and vulnerable people at our home area. One day I asked my parents who these people were and they explained how they were neglected by their families. I asked my parents are these the only people and they told me that the generation will never end for these type of people. They also added that even they could die and leave me as an orphan. I was touched deeply down in my heart. I begged my parents to offer me their piece of land to build an orphanage center for people. They told me that they can offer me the land, but where could get monies to build, I was nowhere since then I was in primary school in Masvingo with a sister Plaxedes whom I was staying with she was a teacher in Matsai village when I was carrying these ideas. She shifted to teach in Mutare, when i completed my O level education in 1999. Plaxedes met a certain American lady called Aunt Pauline where she was teaching at Marewo village in Marange. she Paula was busy opening an orphanage center at Marewo area ,then Paula asked my sister if she have good people to help her,.Plaxedes took me to help Paula we do our reach feeding programmes visit the old people this was 2001 to 2005.when Paula's friend Miss Boesnkool at Alpha cottages asked for me to come work at Alpha cottages children's home,2007 I worked at Alpha cottages till 2011,then I met Mrs Smith and family she used to donate at Alpha cattages and there is a playing center material donated and is still in use by Smith family.2012 l left Alpha cottages to go look for a place to start an orphanage and wanted to go for few course computer studies.in 2015 I was back again at Alpha cottages ,until 2017 I met Sean at Alpha cottages with lot of people who had come for donating at Alpha,he has been touched by the work I was doing at Alpha (I was a caregiver who take for smallest kids at the place)and he left his number with me so I can get in touch.in 2023 I have been terminated because the was no enough monies to pay salaries at Alpha.i move home , fortunately I bought my stand in 2015 at Deure Birchnough Bridge,and was using my salary to build up and my sister Caren and brother Boud helped me to build up the home.i shifted to Masvingo to Birchnough and I introduce myself to village Head that my vision was to open a kindergarten for children and expand it to an ophange,he was impressed and write a letter for proof that I can I go under police clearance and I asked social welfare too.health department too,.All my plans I used to share with my Friend Sean and all what happened to me from Alpha,.Then he decide to help me to start establishing a toilet for the children.im using traditional toilet it's not standard one.my vision is to establish an Ophange home in Pomuri Village,I'm facing many challenges of orphaned Children and old people too,I'm a single mother with four children.

This is a cause that is very close to my heart. I've been helping the orphanage close to where I was brought up on every visit I've made to Zimbabwe. I would really appreciate it if enough money could be raised to help Mary look after the unfortunate people in her village.
