The Backstory
On Saturday, May 4th, 2019, Scott Maynard was riding his motorcycle in Marquette, MI when he was cut off by a driver in a full-sized pick-up truck, striking him directly in the leg at a lighted intersection when the other driver failed to yield. Scott's injuries are thankfully not life-threatening, but regardless they are life-changing.
The extent of Scott's injuries are great - his femur sustained two fractures close to his hip, his tibia sustained two compound fractures, the ligaments in his knee were severed, essentially making his knee unusable, and his leg underwent severe trauma . In addition to the surgeries he has already undergone to clean, disinfect, and set the bones with internal fixation, he will need additional surgeries down the road in the hope that he will be able to walk again.
The Cost and How You Can Help!
Due to this unforeseen accident, Scott has had to spend the last week in the hospital undergoing surgeries with round-the-clock care, and currently it is looking like he will need to spend at least a week or two more in the hospital's rehabilitation center until he is allowed to be discharged home. Additionally, the best-case-scenario right now is that Scott will hopefully be able to return to work in close to a year, but that is if all goes according to plan with his healing and physical therapy.
As we all know, the financial burden this suite of injuries creates can cause undue stress for someone in Scott's position. As close friends of Scott's, we started this page to try and help someone that just so happens to be one of the most kind, caring, and generous people we know - and if you know him, too, we reckon you feel the same.
If you would like to help support Scott, please consider donating, leaving a kind word, or sharing this GoFundMe page with your friends, as any help is incredibly appreciated. Thank you so much!
