School starts in September for the sweet kids in Petit Goave, Haiti. There are about 50 new students from impoverished families who will start the 2017-18 school year without uniforms, which are (loosely) required to identify students in the town by school & ensure their safety on the long walks to school. Material for the uniforms & hiring a tailor currently costs around $45-$50 per child. Children without uniforms aren't refused at the school, but they don't have the same sense of dignity & confidence as the others, which is so important for children anywhere in the world to have.

I just returned from my 2nd trip to Haiti, where I visited the school & with the help of American friends was able to feed the 200 students & parents who celebrated the end of year certificate ceremony. The children wrote thank you notes for last year's uniform donors, & the newcomers wrote notes asking for God to bless me & my friends, so that more money would come for them to get uniforms. You can help us do that!

I'll be raising funds through mid September & wiring the money directly to my dear friend & sister Gertha, who will go to Port Au Prince to purchase the material & have a local tailor in Petit Goave make the uniforms.

Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere with 60% of Haitians living in poverty ($2.42 / day) & 25% living in extreme poverty ($1.23 / day). Basic needs such as a Dr visit are unaffordable, making Haiti a place where people die of flu, infections & diseases that are incredibly easy to treat in developed countries. Children I know personally in Petit Goave brag to each other about days their school had rice & beans to give them at lunch.
