Sayhan Islam Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of Sayhan Mohammad Islam by Madalyn Remensnyder and Carlson Rose. Sayhan would have graduated alongside the class of 2022, but passed away in a tragic car accident on May 19th, 2022. Throughout his 19 years, he changed the lives of everyone around him with his friendship, support, and love. The Sayhan Islam Memoral Scholarship's goal is to continue Sayhan's positive impact in the Amherst community, and to provide students with college opportunities. It will be awarded yearly to one or more graduating seniors at Amherst Regional High School. Applicants will be judged on essays based on prompts inspired by Sayhan's interests and values. The essays will be reviewed anonymously by a group of Sayhan's loved ones, and award money will be managed and distributed by the Amherst school district. All donations will go into the scholarship fund and will help keep the scholarship going for as many years as possible.
