Spende geschützt
Hi,
My name is Brittany Dumond, Olivia Blais’ sister. I am trying to raise money to help them in this difficult time.
Early morning on 4/14/23 Olivia was experiencing some pain and signs of labor. Upon arrival to Backus she was found to be in preterm labor and was already 8cm dilated. It was too far along into labor to slow down this process. Olivia was told she was going to be delivering her twins. Because she was 13 weeks prior to her due date, and Backus does not have a NICU, 2 teams of doctors from CCMC came to Backus to deliver Olivia’s twins. Sawyer was born 04/14/23 at 7:35 am only weighing 1 pound and 15 ounces and Blais was born 04/14/23 at 7:37 am only weighing 1lb and 8 oz. At delivery Olivia was informed the placenta attached to Sawyer was detaching from her uterine wall which put her into pre term labor. They also found a huge clot upon emergency c-section. Shortly after delivery, Olivia hemorrhaged and had to be rushed back into the OR to stop the bleeding. She needed transfusions and multiple medications to stabilize. Once the twins were stabilized and safe to transport they were transported individually to CCMC where they would be admitted for months to their NICU. Olivia was transported from Backus to Hartford Hospital the following day where she spent 4 days there recovering just upstairs from the twins. She was discharged on Tuesday 04/18/23 having to leave her twins behind.
Both of her twins are currently in the NICU on ventilators and need rigorous around the clock intensive care.
Sawyer has a brain bleed they are monitoring closely and continue to do imaging to check for progress or regression. His lungs are not where they would like them to be and are monitoring them daily. He had 2 chest tubes inserted which has since been removed. He is on a steroid regimen to help progress his lungs. He is making progress daily, but often needs adjustments with his vent settings and medications.
Blais has an open heart valve which is causing blood to pool into his lungs and build up fluid around his body. He is set to have a procedure done this week and is being given Tylenol to help close the valve. Blais had a chest tube also which has since been removed. Blais is overall stable, they are keeping him on minimal feeds until his procedure to fix his heart valve.
They both have required phototherapy on and off.
We are asking for donations for Olivia and her family to help with gas and parking to get her and Dan back and forth to CCMC daily to visit their miracles, as well as to help with lost revenue from reduced work hours due to this unforeseen circumstance. They have a LONG road ahead and will not be “out of the woods” for a long time. We are trying to help lesson the heavy load they’re both carrying. We appreciate any donation or share of this Go Fund Me page. Thank you all for your support, kind words, and prayers for our miracle babies Sawyer and Blais.
