Samantha Thurston's Brain Surgeries Fundraiser
Donation protected
My name is Samantha Thurston and I was diagnosed with a brain disease, known as Hydrocephalus in 2011. Since then I have undergone numerous tests, scans, procedures, a spinal tap, and 2 brain surgeries. The last surgery I received was last year after my spring semester of college in May 2013. I was placed with a shunt that since has not shown any improvements and has been placed incorrectly in my brain and is malfunctioning. Doctors also fear I have a blockage in my brain which my body has adjusted to; normal people who have this blockage have a 12 hour life expectancy after diagnosis. I will need 2 more brain surgeries at the end of my graduation this May 2014. I will need what is called a shuntogram to diagnose exactly what is the best way to correct the problem; the second surgery will be the corrective surgery. There is NO CURE for hydrocephalus, it is a life-long illness. Without these surgeries I will not live a full or normal term life. I am 19 years old and my family and I have been dealing with this alone for too long. We need help as these surgeries are expensive and will be taking place in Boston. PLEASE HELP by donating any little bit will help! Please join my army and help me with my battle!
