Help Restore the Village Church of Gonneville-sur-Honfleur
Tucked between sea and countryside, the 12th-century church of Gonneville-sur-Honfleur has stood at the heart of our Norman village for centuries. It's a place of history, quiet beauty, and shared memory for locals and visitors alike—including many of you in the How to Renovate a Château community.
Thanks to generous donations from residents, institutions, private donors, and supporters like you, we’ve been able to carry out crucial structural work to stabilize the building and stop further degradation.
But the work isn’t done yet.
This year’s restoration project focuses on the south chapel, where years of water ingress through the roof have left the plaster damaged and moss growing on the walls. Because the church is a classified historic monument, all repairs must be carried out by specialized artisans using traditional techniques—an effort that comes with significant cost.
Right now, the village has no budget for this phase of the restoration. That’s why we’re turning to you.
We recently held a small concert in the church (as seen in our latest YouTube video) to help raise funds locally—and now we hope to open this effort to our wider community. Every single donation, no matter how small, helps.
All funds go directly to the nonprofit association overseeing the restoration. (We’re not affiliated with the association—we’re just helping spread the word.)
Let’s give this remarkable building the care it deserves.
Thank you so much for your support.
