Save The Yancey Theatre
Spende geschützt
THE Yancey Theatre is being forced to replace their 35mm film projector with a new digital projector because movie companies and distributors have completely stopped making 35mm films. If we do not replace the old system, we will have no choice but to close the theatre...
Seventy-five years ago in 1939 the Yancey Theatre opened its doors for the first time with much fanfare and celebration in Burnsville,NC. With the coming of the new theatre on West Main Street, Yancey County had arrived. Not only did the movie house present the latest movies but it offered live music shows by the original " Carter family",Earnest Tubb,Roy Acuff and many more. Roy Rogers rode his horse Trigger through the theatre to promote his movie! Many more stars visited the theatre to promote their films. The Yancey Theatre is an iconic place packed full of history. I Louann Brown owner grew up in Burnsville and my family and I have made so many memories at the beloved theatre. My father watched his first western at the theatre and said "he dodged as the horses ran toward him" tv and movies were new to Yancey County so to have their own movie theatre was simply "Amazing". We are the only small town one screen theatre around. Bigger movie cinema's are at least 40 miles away. The movie theatre is one of the only things in our small town for our young people. Losing the theatre would be devastating to our community! So I am asking for everyone's help to SAVE THE YANCEY THEATRE!!!
We need to raise 45,000 to save The Yancey Theatre!!!
Thank you and God Bless,
