Save Yajaira

I met Yajaira many years ago in Jaco, Costa Rica. She was sitting on a sidewalk crying. She told me she had been attacked and robbed, she was 17, Dominican, and had moved alone to Costa Rica to try and make some money as a hair dresser. When I found her, she had no money left and needed stitches due to a knife injury, so I took her to a local hospital where they took care of her. She told me her story: born in the Dominican Republic from very poor parents who abandonned her when she was 2, she was brought up in an isolated village by her grandmother. As a very young child she was molested. Yajaira is a highly intelligent and very courageous girl who dreams of being able to study to become a nurse. I helped her out financially as much as I could through the years so that she would achieve her goal. Unfortunately her health has recently deteriorated. All her life she suffered from congenital hart/blood pressure problems. Several of her close relatives died of similar problems. Today this has degenerated in very serious hart problems: Yajaira suffered a heart attack a few days ago, her life is in danger, she needs urgent medical care. Good care is available in the Dominican Republic where she moved back when she became too ill to be on her own in Costa Rica. But it is expensive. Yajaira needs money for doctor care, hospitalization and possibly surgery. I took care of her medical expenses till now but the financial burden is becoming too heavy for me.

Please help me saving Yajaira.
