If you attended Duke University, chances are, you've been to Shooters II. You've enjoyed your chance on the beer pong table (definitely got there early on Wednesday), attempted to ride on the bull, sang Miracles Happen while you danced on the bar, and, if it was a real crazy night, you got in the cage, alone, without a care in the world. It is simply impossible to picture the Duke experience without Shooters.
During a typical Duke spring, students would gather on the quad at LDOC, head to Myrtle for beach week, pose in front of the chapel in their cap and gown, and, perhaps most importantly, don their Shooters t-shirt on their last night of college with tears streaming down their faces. Unfortunately, that was not the case this year.
In light of the recent global health & safety concerns stemming from COVID-19, Shooters II has been forced to close for the foreseeable future. It's no surprise that local shops, bars, and restaurants have been hit hard during this virus. But if we come together, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. When we are out of our respective quarantines, we - and the future Duke alumni ahead of us - can have the privilege of returning to Shooters II: an establishment that has, in one way or another, surely shaped all of our college memories.
The funds will go directly to support Kim Cates and the Shooters staff that have been there for all of us. Now it is our chance to be there for them.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Go Duke!
