Save Dior: Life-Saving Surgery for Maisha's Hero

Hi, my name is Maisha, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart. My 4-year-old Frenchie, Dior—my best friend, my hero, and the one who saved my life—is undergoing a life-saving, two-part surgery right now.

Dior has an extreme case of bladder and urethral stones. His condition is so severe that two veterinarians are required for the procedure. They are flushing the stones back into his bladder and then opening his bladder to remove them. The doctors have never seen this many stones in a dog before. This surgery is crucial not only to save Dior’s life but also to understand what caused this, determine his future diet, and prevent this from happening again.

Dior isn’t just a dog—he is my lifeline. After losing my mother to suicide and my father two years before that, I hit the lowest point of my life. I had to grieve alone while trying to raise my children during the pandemic. I was broken, struggling to hold myself together, but Dior gave me a reason to keep going. He saved me when I couldn’t save myself.

Because of Dior, I found the strength to rebuild my life and reunite my family. He has been my anchor, my comfort, and my constant. Now, he needs me more than ever, and I am doing everything in my power to save him.

The emergency vet bill last night was $1,500, and today’s surgery is $5,650. Thankfully, we were able to cover the costs upfront, but it has completely drained our savings and forced us to put our dream of buying a home on hold. My family of six is currently living in a one-bedroom house that we converted into 2, and we had been saving every penny to give our children a better life. Now, that dream feels impossible.

Dior’s two Frenchie family members, including his mom, are waiting at home for him, as are my children, who love him deeply. Dior is the heart of our family, and we can’t imagine life without him.
