Don protégé
As many of you know, my sister, Sarah, has gone through an extensive legal proceeding as she endured difficulty caused by a husband that was criminally convicted of sexual abuse of a minor in Alabama. This conviction caused Sarah to be left struggling to ensure the safety of her children while being the sole provider for them, one of whom has major medical needs.
Will, pictured in the wheelchair, is a bright and energetic 6-year-old who excels despite his handicaps. As a newborn with spina bifida, the expectation was that he would never walk. After back surgery, three shunt surgeries, multiple foot surgeries, physical therapy, and numerous medical procedures, HE RUNS! However, the young man faces another surgery in October and ongoing surgeries thereafter. Sarah is forced to go to Birmingham Children's of Alabama Hospital to prepare for the upcoming surgery as he grows.
What would be a bearable process for a husband and a wife has become a quagmire for Sarah as she struggles alone through the legal side of a divorce, the termination of parental rights on her criminal husband, the questions of future living arrangements, and the stress of keeping her children in school while trying to work a job to put food on the table.
Today, the situation has dire need. Her husband left back taxes that are being filed against their current home. For good reason, he is locked up for 10 years, but the wake of destruction he has left as he marched off to prison has been enormous. The divorce lawyer keeps billing her for more. The medical and travel expenses are many.
Sarah and her family need our help. She has always been a caring and giving soul. If you are like me and you find yourself touched by my sister's need, please help as you see fit. It is my desire to see her established in a place where her stress can be somewhat alleviated and she can continue to provide motherly care for her young children, Tsunade, Sarah Beth, and Will.
