Join Sarah's Battle Against Cancer

Hi! I’m Cesar! Me and my family, more specifically my incredibly brave sister Sarah, have had the craziest 3 Months and are tapping our community to be a part of this unexpected adventure. On Feb 16th, my sister called me from work complaining about a pain in her side. Flash-forward 4 weeks later, she’s undergoing surgery to remove a lime-sized tumor from her lung.

What was initially thought to be a generally unconcerning tumor- especially for a young woman who has never smoked- turned out to be a stage III neuroendocrine carcinoid tumor. It’s a very rare type of tumor that affects a small percentage of folks with lung cancer.

While the initial surgery was successful in removing the tumor, it presented in ways that gave her doctors legit concern and she’s now undergoing chemo treatment to make sure this tango with cancer is a brief diversion from an otherwise healthy and long life. The good news is she’s got a great path to recovery from surgery with a very good prognosis on the other side of her treatment.

The rougher news, HOLY $#!+ cancer is expensive! It’s actually astonishingly expensive, even with health insurance. Between out of pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance (and goodness A LOT is not covered by insurance), travel to doctors, treatments, all the extra stuff you need to get through chemo, food, wigs, the list goes on and on. So I am reaching out to my community on behalf of my sis to help raise some sunshine in a pretty cloudy time.
