Sarah Bargas Cancer Treatment Fund

Don protégé
So many of us have been fortunate to be touched by the kindness, light and love of Sarah Bargas.  She’s connected with us through the simplicity of her smile, a shared hug, positive energy and pure friendship.  She’s the one we know we can go to for sound advice, a pick-me-up, or some magical encouragement.  It’s in her nature; it’s in her way.  She’s always been there for others and lifting spirits.

The last 8 years have not been easy for Sarah and her family. In 2009 she was diagnosed with Stage III cancer and underwent radiation treatment, chemotherapy and surgery before finding remission.  In 2013, there was a reoccurrence of Stage IV cancer and her doctors offered her a ‘terminal’ diagnosis, minimal chance of response to chemotherapy, and only months to live.  Refusing to give up, she immersed herself in the study of yoga, naturopathy, dietary nutrition and holistic healthcare approaches including Cannabis extracts to manage further progression.  Still, for everything there is a season.  During this period, after 16 years of marriage, her husband passed away.  And just less than two years later, after a follow-up exam last November, her scan showed progression of cancer to multiple areas including her liver, lungs and bones.  Over the last few months, Sarah has endured chronic pain, weakness and related sleep depravity.

Today, Sarah needs us.  Her children need her.  As of this posting, Sarah has relocated to Arizona where she is now undergoing infusion treatments three times a week for at least the next 3 to 8 months in conjunction with a strict dietary, supplement and nutrition plan.   These treatments are considered out-of-state and not covered by insurance.  As a registered nurse, Sarah has always believed that patients should be informed and active in selecting their overall approach to their healthcare.  She chose this treatment center because she believes it offers her the greatest hope of recovery, healing and survival based on the promising results and data compiled on nearly 400 other patients.

While Sarah is being treated, her three children will remain in Pennsylvania under the care of family members.  With fingers crossed, Sarah is hopeful this campaign will supplement the cost of her treatments and allow her to relocate her children to Arizona so they may be with be with her during this time.  Sarah and her children have endured so much.  She just wants to be here for them.

Sarah had no choice but to begin these treatments now.  She’s at Stage IV and there aren’t any other stages.  She’s come back from a terminal diagnosis before and with our help she’ll do it again.

The Bargas family is grateful for any and all support through this campaign.  From direct contributions, to well-wishes, good vibes, prayers, family support and positive energy… it’s all part of the healing process and most welcome.

Should this treatment not succeed, all of the remaining funds will be used toward the needs, transition and well-being of Sarah’s children.
