Sara Robinson’s Wish: One Trip to the Ocean With Her Family

Hi everyone, my name is Kelsey Andersen, and I am the Director of a childcare center in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. I had the privilege of hiring Sara Robinson in October of 2015, and for many years I had the opportunity to work alongside her and witness the incredible love and care she gave to so many children and families. Sara was never just an employee; she was the kind of caregiver every parent hopes their child will have. She spent years caring for and nurturing countless little ones, including my own child. Families trusted her completely because of the patience, kindness, and genuine love she brought into the classroom every single day. Sara has left a lasting impact on so many families in our community.

Sara’s greatest pride and joy has always been her family. She and her husband, Jeremy Robinson, are raising five beautiful children together, ranging from young grade school to young adulthood. Their home has always been one filled with love, generosity, and compassion. In fact, Sara and Jeremy even adopted one of their children from foster care after Sara met the child while working at the childcare center. That moment speaks volumes about who Sara is as a person. When she saw a child who needed love and stability, she didn’t hesitate to open her heart and her home.

Sara and Jeremy have also given so much of their time and energy to serving others in our community. Through their involvement with the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, they have worked to support causes that help children and families in need. Their dedication to service was recently recognized when Jeremy and Sara were honored as the 2026 Potentate and Divan of the Abu Bekr Shrine. Even while facing immense personal challenges, their commitment to helping others has never wavered.

Sara’s cancer journey has been incredibly long and unbelievably difficult. She has fought with a strength that most of us can hardly imagine. Over the years, Sara has battled cancer that has spread to numerous parts of her body, from her lungs to her brain. She has endured neurosurgery, spent time in rehabilitation learning basic skills again, and gone through years of chemotherapy and radiation. Along the way there have been countless surgeries, biopsies, appointments, medications, ports, pokes, hospital stays, and procedures. There have been times she has been bedridden and incredibly ill, yet through it all she has continued to fight with incredible determination for more time with the people she loves.

Sadly, Sara’s doctors now believe her body is growing tired from the fight. She has agreed to undergo one more biopsy in hopes that doctors might find a new mutation that could lead to a targeted treatment, but her oncologist has been honest that the chances are very small. At this point, her medical team believes Sara may have about three to six months, with the reality likely closer to three.

That is why this trip means so much. It isn’t just about seeing the ocean; it is about giving Sara and her family time together to create memories that her children will carry with them forever. If you know Sara, you know how much she has given to others throughout her life through caring for children, supporting families, serving her community, and loving her own family with everything she has.

Now we have the chance to give something back to her. Our hope is to help Sara experience the peace and beauty of the ocean surrounded by her husband Jeremy and their five children, creating memories they will carry with them forever. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help make this trip possible. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to Sara and her family.
Thank you for helping us give Sara and her family this precious time together.
