Salon Séance

Salon Séance is a collaboration between musicians and an actor—music with incidental theater, if you will—in which an actor channels the spirit of a dead composer. Together, we explore a question that is as relevant today as it was then. This season, we are focusing on the music of Benjamin Britten, exploring the question, 'How do I live in a broken world?' through his relationship with the poet W. H. Auden.
Help us fund our upcoming residency at Yellow Barn, where we hope to rehearse Britten’s string quartets intensively; to collaborate with our actor on staging; to work with our researcher to get an in-depth look at Britten and Auden’s lives; and to develop ideas for our next programs. What we raise will go mostly towards our collaborating artists for their time and hard work, as well as our transportation costs, and organizing fundraiser events in New York.
