Sadie needs our support!

Her story: Sadie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was seven years old, and then at fourteen she began battling Gastroparesis, which has progressed steadily and severely. On Christmas night of 2022 she went into the emergency room with severe pain. She ended up in the ICU, back on a nasal feeding tube and with the news that the Gastroparesis had significantly worsened. After two weeks she was able to go home, but since then her health has been unmanageable, with her tube having numerous issues. Along with clogging 14 times, she was throwing the tube up almost daily due to chronic and untreatable nausea. Her Gastroenterologist suggested placing a permanent tube through her stomach in hopes to be able to get her the calories she needs and get a hold of the nausea. After the surgery, the tube site became infected and Sadie had to be admitted again for IV antibiotics. Since December, she has been in and out of the hospital. It has significantly interrupted her entire life, causing her to have to take a remote work position with her employer to try to manage the financial aspect of the situation. Even as sick and depleted as she is, she sits in her hospital bed and works as much as she can. The donated funds will alleviate so much of this added stress and give her time and space to try to heal as they work out the next steps. Specifically, she will use the funds to maintain her apartment and car, as well as to make a dent in the astronomical medical bills. 

l've known Sadie since 2016, when she was a student in my sophomore English class. We’ve since become good friends and I’m so happy to start this fundraiser for her. She is so giving and genuine, and lights up the lives of those who know her. She is more than deserving of the support she needs to make it through this!
