Getting to Graduation

Hello Friends & Family,
As many of you know I am currently in the last leg of my senior year at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities where I am majoring in Strategic Communications through the Humphrey School of Journalism and Mass Communications, with a double minor in Social Justice and African American studies. During my last four years of undergraduate studies I have had 6 internships, served on 3 non-profit boards, lead over 200 students on cultural immersion trips across state-lines, and much more.
This winter I had the invaluable experience of studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa through a University-sponsored program called Solidarity & Justice-Oriented Structural Change in South Africa. Over the course of this journey I saw and experienced how communities are rebuilding after an apartheid, and witnessed what it means to be culturally resilient. Most importantly, as a global citizen, I learned how to practice being an agent of change.
This wonderful experience came with a hefty financial cost, for which I leveraged personal savings and loans. After having maxed the loan offerings in my financial aid package, I’ve been left short of what I need to complete my degree.
Your support will assist me in the completion of the final 9 credits needed for my undergraduate degree this May term, thus allowing me to graduate with the Class of 2018.
Where will the funds go?
Rough Breakdown of Need:
$493 per institution credit hour (x9) = $4,437
$436 Student Services Fee
$500 Administrative Support Fees
Total - $5,375
I would like to thank you for your continuous support that has come in a myriad of forms in helping me get this far.
If you have any additional questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I promise to make you proud.
