A family's recovery from the flood
Don protégé
This is my mom and my sister. Over the weekend their house in Wimberley, Tx got flooded. At 7:30 in the morning on Friday they were evacuated by firefighters as the water was starting to rush in. They made it to my house in San Marcos where we sat out the flood. We went back the next day and the house had gotten 22 inches of water in it, ruining almost everything downstairs. My mom lost all of her furniture other than her bed frame and one chair she managed to put on top of her bed before she left. Even my sisters car was found upside down in a field about 300 feet from where she parked it.
Unfortunately the insurance does not cover flood damage at all, so they won't be helping in any way. My mom lost all of her shoes, her mattress, several pieces of furniture including entertainment center, dressers, nightstands and a coffee table. At the moment we are trying to salvage what we can, like family pictures, schoolwork my sister and I brought home when we were children, and anything that didn't get destroyed by the water.
My mom is the absolute sweetest woman I have ever know. She does so much for people, and tends to be the first one to help however she can. Even in this trying time, she is keeping her head up and being positive.
I am hoping to raise enough to help her out, so she can replace the stuff she lost. The first step will be getting her a new mattress so she has a place to sleep once the repairs are done. Next will be replacing furniture that was lost. Any little bit will help! Thank you for reading this, and anything you can give will be greatly appreciated.
