Roy's Prognosis
Last December Roy was hospitalized after battling heart disease for many years. Several tests, and procedures were done with the final diagnosis of advanced congestive heart failure along with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. The doctors determined that Roy's heart is functioning at 15% of it's capacity. Surgery was done to implant a cardiac defibrillator. He has also been placed on continuous intravenous medication and is now on the heart transplant list at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.
Roy's Treatment
As a result of his Diagnosis, Roy's physical activity has been restricted and he is prohibited from working and currently has no income. His disability payments have already been depleted because of weekly visits to various specialists and the Heart Center, and his monthly health insurance payments. He also has the additional expense of multiple medications and procedures needed to sustain his health and avoid hospitalization. With no source of income this has become incredibly difficult for him to maintain.
