Casey and I had our lives forever changed when my father Roy passed on 8/15/2023 at 11:15 pm.

My father has been living with Casey and me for over five years now and we have been exploring all that life would allow us to do together. My dad enjoyed traveling along the west coast and the trips to and from the ocean including taking his first airplane ride which for the record he swore he would never fly. Then he finally got the honor of being called Pawpaw Roy. All being things he never thought he would get to experience. His smile in the profile picture sums up all of the joy he experienced! It was also the smile everyone who met him would be greeted with.

My father was a giver he tried to help everyone he came into contact with that needed it which made his profession perfect for him as he ran a security company to ensure others were always safe. My dad talked all the time about wanting to be an organ donor with every piece of his being. Due to all of his medical issues, he never thought he could be. When we were talking with the doctors about everything going on and what should be done next Casey and I asked the doctors if there was anything that would be viable for donation.

Just as my dad's death was a major unexpected shock so was the response we got from the doctors. My dad could be an organ donor!!! At that moment, Casey and I knew what my dad would have wanted and we decided to proceed with organ donation.
Nothing about my dad's death was what we expected the timing the ability to donate organs, and certainly not the financial impact.

I talk with people daily about the importance of Life Insurance and how they need to plan for their death so that their families are financially prepared at the time of their passing. Unfornutaley, this was not something I knew about when I was young enough to get it when it would have been possible.

Due to my father's medical issues, he became ineligible for Life Insurance many years ago. A year ago we did find a great Guaranteed Issue Final Expense Life Insurance policy that would provide coverage when he passed. However, there is a contestability period for that policy and we are still in that period so the policy will not be paying out.

Due to the unexpected passing of my dad, we are not prepared for all of the expenses that we now have.

The decision to reach out publicly for help is not something that Casey and I thought we would ever do. We are the type of people that prefer to figure everything out ourselves. With everything we have already had to pay and know we still have to pay we could use some assistance so we are reaching out and asking for some help because we are not sure how we are going to make it all happen in such a short amount of time.

The amount we are asking for help with is to cover my dad's final expenses.

In closing, I would like to let everyone know the decision to reach out publicly and ask for assistance wasn't an easy one at all. We worry about the judgment we will receive for not being properly prepared.

We hope that the things we have shared about my dad showed what a great man he truly was. We will be forever grateful for any assistance we receive.

Thank you so very much!
