“So why would I fear the future? For your goodness and love pursue me all the days of my life.” –Psalm 23:6

“He won’t brush aside the bruised and broken. He will be gentle with the weak and feeble, until his victory releases justice.” –Matthew 12:20

Mother & Grandmother, Rosaline Soria, has been bruised, but not broken, by cancer. We are asking for your help and support during this time of surgery and recovery for her. We ask with hearts of hope– Jesus has provided so far and will be victorious over this illness on her behalf.

“I am in awe. In the past I’ve gone through a lot of brokenness but still experienced a peace that ‘surpasses all understanding.’ This time it’s on a different level. I don’t feel any fear, anxiety or sadness. Even after the surgery I had a hope for more. I know that is not of me but of God. He has me in green pastures like he promises.” - Rosaline

WHAT HAPPENED…

After experiencing severe stomach pains through the night of June 26, 2019, the next morning Rosaline was rushed to the ER and the doctors quickly took her to surgery in order to remove her gallbladder which had signs of cancer. Timing was good because as soon as it was removed it burst in the surgeon’s hands. Had it done so inside her it could’ve been fatal. We all breathed a sigh of relief believing it was God’s timing.

Although the battle was won, the war was not over. After a series of tests the doctors detected the cancer to be Poorly Differentiated Adenocarcinoma - the most aggressive kind of cancer. Unfortunately it had spread into other areas of her body. She has since gotten tests by an oncologist and will be getting additional surgery to remove a piece of her liver (a margin outside of the liver where it was attached to the gallbladder) which has the cancer cells on July 22, 2019. The hope is it will be finished there but the scans of the liver afterward will determine whether she will need chemotherapy or not.

THE NEED…

This is all happening in the middle of a difficult month for Rosaline; she currently doesn’t have income and is having to move out of her home of 2 years by August 1, 2019. Nevertheless, God has provided. As for the medical bills she qualified for AHCCCS  (Arizona Healthcare Cost Containment System) and as far as we know it’s covering everything!

“The day I was going into my CT scan, I woke up, and I heard [in my head] a song I learned when I was a child.

'Solo Cristo, solo Cristo, satisfase a mi pobre corazon. Cuando Cristo esta a mi lado, toda carga es bendicion. (Only Christ, only Christ, satisfies my poor heart. When Christ is by my side, every burden is a blessing.)'

"And when I started hearing this song I said yes that’s exactly what it’s been. It’s been a blessing to me and other people who have talked to me during this. Then I called my Tia Chita and she sung it with me and we were crying. She said, ‘Aye, we haven’t sung that song in years.’ God always has prepared me for my future. Why? He’s always going before us. When we choose to see him in the daily, we get to experience whatever he has for us. And that’s what keeps me in awe of his provision.” -Rosaline

Your support will help Rosaline in her recovery stages for…

1) Everyday life concerns
2) Moving costs
3) Food/groceries for a month or two
4) Other health and medical needs that might come up along the way

Most importantly, we ask for your prayers and loving support. We hope this is a good way to share this struggle our family is facing and we look forward to keeping you updated on what is going on. Please feel free to message Rosaline (or any of us) and send more encouragement along the way!

THE HOPE…

Rosaline is looking beyond this. She knows there’s much to look forward to, like helping her brother’s church grow, continuing working with an organization who helps women saved from sex trafficking, singing worship songs with her family and being a loving mother and grandmother. Although this is serious she has been encouraged all along the way.

"I don’t know what [the future] looks like, I really don’t, but I think there is a great need in the Hispanic-American community… I want to continue to empower women to know their Creator and how to trust in what he says. I want to teach them to let go and surrender, because he has the perfect plan for us. As a family, I think God is calling us to something bigger. I don’t believe this happened to me just so I can continue to do the usual...There’s so much God is preparing me for…

"Knowing the word of God has empowered me to go through all the things I’ve gone through. When you trust God, it works. He’s the only one who doesn’t abandon you. It’s true He doesn’t go back on his word." -Rosaline
