My dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January of 2019. This did not come as surprise but sadly confirmed what he had known for a while deep down. Despite months of visits to his GP, almost halving in weight they still did not listen to his concerns. Everything from IBS to Diabetes was offered as an alternative diagnosis but by the time they sent him for the relevant tests the cancer had spread too far.
I have so much respect for him, fighting hard to try and strong for his family, he has surpassed all expectations and been able to tick some of those all-important items off his ‘bucket list’, but most of all spend some quality time with his loved ones. Unfortunately, despite some good progress the cancer spread, and things took a turn for the worse.
Ronnie was addmitted to Overgate Hospice care in early December and despite a breif excursion to spend Christmas day with the family, he sadly passed away there peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on the evening of Saturday 4th Jan.
My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who took the time to read his story or to spare a thought for us during this time, even more so if you have been generous enough to donate. The money raised here will greatly help ease the stress on us all knowing that we can put our beloved Father, Husband, Brother, Grandad and Friend to rest.
