Assistant Fire Chief Killed

Assistant Fire Chief, Ron Caraway, was tragically killed head on by a drug-affected driver who had no insurance near Rolla, Missouri, the 7th of November. Ron was on his way to work that morning on his beloved 2005 Goldwing motorcycle that he rode each day, rain, hail or shine. Ron, a hardworking family man originally from Rogers, Tx., had lived in Salem, Mo. for 30 years. Only 54, Ron will be sorely missed by his wife of 33 years, Patti, and his three adult children: Myrenda, Carolyn and Austin. Ron’s five grandchildren adored him. Ron’s parents, Ruell and Carol, have lost their only son, having buried their son, Layne, who died young from cancer.

Ron who served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force and was a Patriot Guard Rider who would stop and help anyone. A quick wit, a strong faith, and solid patriotism got him through everyday. His favourite pastime was tinkering in his shed. If Ron couldn’t fix it, no one could.
