If you’ve ever walked down Beach 92nd street after a beautiful summer surf session you probably noticed a family barbecuing next door to Boarder’s. They probably offered you some food and whether you accepted or not you were treated like family. 

Freddy, Yvette, and their mom Anna have fed surfers on the block for years. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy they could be seen in the neighborhood delivering donated generators, heaters, and battery powered lights to families devastated by the storm (while they themselves struggled to cope with power outages in subzero temperatures ). The Thanksgiving after Hurricane Sandy they hosted an open dinner for anyone in the neighborhood that was hungry, alone, and needed their spirits lifted.  

Earlier this month Anna was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The situation is not good but family and friends are hoping and praying for a miracle. 

Please show this beloved Rockaway family the same love they have shared with us, countless neighbors, hardcore surfers as well as down for the dayers.
