Rob has a hereditary heart disease. At a young age Rob's mother passed away after having a heart attack. She passed at the young age of 48. Since then, he has lost his dad and one of his older brothers. Rob has recently been placed on a heart transplant list, because the left side of his heart has failed and no longer works. He has dealt with this for many years but has steadily declined as we continue on this journey. After having his third heart attack in 2014, we've been in and out of Baystate hospital. In 2015 Baystate informed us there was nothing left that they could do for him and referred us to Tufts medical center in Boston. Here he underwent two operations resulting in two stints being placed in his only functioning main artery. Since then he has been prescribed over 13 medications and now takes up to 21 pills a day. On March 7, 2017 he had an LVAD placed in his heart. Since then he has under went 10 surgeries with more scheduled in the future. Additionally, he has lost the use of his left arm, which was completely unexpected. Many trips back and forth from Ashley Falls to Boston have been made, and it has become very expensive!! We are asking for your help with our financial stress, it's the last thing we need Rob to worry about as he goes through this journey for a new Heart. ❤️❤️❤️. Especially since he will now be limited to what work he'll be able to perform once he finally receives his new heart!
