Ashton's Neuroblastoma Cancer Fight

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-Hearted Strangers,

Today, I reach out with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit on behalf of my brave 10-year-old grandson, Ashton. Ashton is fighting a courageous battle against his newly diagnosed Neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. One moment he is a typical boy, going to school, playing sports and video games and the next moment he is facing news that has literally changed his life forever!

This devastating journey began on 1/14/24, when Ashton returned to Randall's Children's Hospital after not fully recovering from an emergency appendectomy performed on 12/23/23. After many lab tests and imaging, a mass on his right kidney was discovered, prompting further testing, which revealed additional masses and a biopsy that confirmed everyone's worst nightmare! Just like that, our world is upside down.

On 1/18/24, a PICC line was placed, and bone marrow biopsy has been done and we are anxiously awaiting the result. He has received his first chemo treatment, so things are moving very quickly!

As a blended family with 6 kids, Ashlie and Tyler's whole lives revolve around their kids! Ashton is a bright, loving child with dreams as big as his smile! He loves being outdoors and playing sports and has been actively part of a sports team since the age of 5, playing football, soccer, and basketball each year!

Unfortunately, this aggressive illness, as come on very quickly and has required immediate inpatient hospitalization and procedures. His illness demands extensive medical treatment, including radiation, chemotherapy, and specialized care, most of which are not fully covered by insurance.

The financial burden of ongoing medical expenses, travel for treatments, and the need for his mom to take leave from work to be by his side is overwhelming.

They are already struggling to keep up with mounting medical bills, household expenses, and ensuring Ashton has everything he needs to keep him as strong and comfortable as possible in his fight against cancer.
