Rico’s Rescue Story. A Frenchie Fighting for a Second Chance
Donation protected
Someone I know reached out to me one day about a French Bulldog in desperate need of help. Without hesitation, I stepped in. This is the second dog I’ve rescued, my fourth overall — but the first time I’ve ever asked for help.
Times are tough right now, but turning my back wasn’t an option. This little one needed someone, and I couldn’t say no.
I wanted to share a breakdown of the 9 visits I've made so far regarding my pet's recurring hotspot issue. Despite these appointments, the problem persists, and it's becoming increasingly frustrating and distressing for both me and my pet.
I would really appreciate it if someone could reach out to me directly to discuss a more effective, long-term solution. I’m eager to understand what can be done to resolve this issue for good.
Thank you for your time and support.

Rico’s Rescue Story – A Frenchie Fighting for a Second Chance
I never planned on rescuing another dog—especially not while juggling two jobs and navigating life’s daily chaos. But sometimes, the ones who need us most come when we least expect it. Life had other plans. That’s how Rico came into my life.
A friend reached out about a French Bulldog in desperate need of help. His condition was heartbreaking—painful hotspots covered his little body, large patches of fur were missing, especially on his back and tail, made it hard for him to walk comfortably. But the worst part wasn’t physical—it was in his eyes. He was terrified, shut down, and clearly had no idea why he had been abandoned.. He didn’t understand why no one had cared for him.
I knew the financial strain would be heavy, but I couldn’t look away. I took Rico straight to the vet. Emergency care, diagnostics, medications, and follow-ups quickly added up to nearly $3,000—every cent of it charged to a credit card. I got pet insurance through Nation Wide right away, hoping they’d help cover his treatment. But after months of back and forth, they denied every claim, calling his issues “pre-existing.”
Now, I’m facing the full cost alone—plus ongoing care for a dog still fighting to heal.
I refuse to give up on him. It’s overwhelming—balancing two jobs and trying to give Rico the life he deserves—
This is why I’ve started this GoFundMe.
I’m asking for help to:
Pay off the emergency medical debt from Rico’s initial treatment.
Find long-term solutions for his chronic skin issues and continued healing—whether that’s connecting with a vet, a specialist, or someone experienced with cases like his that won’t charge me an arm and a leg.
I know some people will say, “Why take in a dog if you couldn’t afford it?” And to those people, I say: I didn’t go looking for a dog—I stepped up when one was in pain and had no one else. I didn’t hesitate then, and I don’t regret it now. I simply saw a helpless animal who needed love and made a choice to help.
Six months later, Rico is making progress, but we still have a long road ahead. If you can help in any way—whether financially, medically, or by simply sharing this story—it would mean the world to both of us.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring.
